Summary:
Twinstate is driven by our vision, mission and values. We require that all team members work in accordance with our values. The Controller is responsible for overseeing financial statements such as balance sheets, invoices, AP and AR. The individual will direct Accounting Mangers and department operations, compiling financial reports based on financial statements and implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting. This can be a full time or part time position.
Responsibilities/Job Functions:
- Leads the finance and accounting team, ensuring the team is properly staffed and trained to handle company growth
- Directs the preparation and accuracy of all financial reports, including: forecasts, cash flow management, income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns and reports to third parties
- Responsible for ensuring sales tax, local taxes and property taxes are accurately reported and paid
- Provides leadership and guidance for the Company in the following areas: projections, budgeting, review of expenses, payroll, cash management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Meets regularly with department heads to keep informed and to offer direction
- Acts as a liaison between the company, third parties and auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes
- Provide proactive financial data and analysis to management for timely managerial decisions and controls
- Help focus the organization on efficiency and improving profits by reviewing business segments and costs
- Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate
- Develops, reviews, revises as necessary and implements internal accounting processes, procedures, and tools with the goal of reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, including providing training to appropriate staff
- Leads annual and as-needed audits of internal accounting processes
Pre-Requisites:
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP Project accounting experience a plus
- Strong MS Excel experience
- Ability to lead through influence
- Proficiency in training and managing support staff
- Knowledge of database and accounting computer applications systems to supply the most accurate financial information
- Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little or no direct supervision
- Objectively appraise and analyze the qualifications and performance of others as well as the ability to plan and direct their activities; and to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances, or problems
- Prior working knowledge of an accounting system
- Experience in Professional service industry (IT, law, medical, architecture, engineering, construction, etc.) a plus
- 7-10 years of related experience in Project Accounting, Client Billing or Contract Administration preferred though not required
- Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
- Five to ten years’ experience in financial management/accounting with demonstrated levels of increased responsibilities
